![]() ![]() Just realized I probably should have included my printer/scanner type: Brother DCP-7030. Would be interested to learn where those 6 files came from. The 6 files being present and transfered seems to have done the trick. After copying the files over to the /usr/lib/ folder the scanner works fine. If your device isn't mention in these lists or tagged as 'unsupported', also have a look at the lists for the development version and the external backends below. They must have been installed with the all-in-one installer, which hadn't been done on numerous installations of the 3 individual drivers. These lists provide information about the devices that are supported by the latest stable release of SANE. Upon checking the /usr/lib64 folder again though, there were the files - 3 standalones and 3 in a sane subfolder. After using Brother's all-in-one installer this time as you suggested, everything seemed to go well, although even after rebooting the scanner wasn't recognized and wouldn't start. I checked the /usr/lib64/ folder before using the installer program you suggested from the Brother site and the 6 listed files weren't in there. I had already added the 2 lines to the /lib/udev/rules.d/les" file and had checked for sane-utils being present. Printing no problem but wouldn't recognize scanner. Hadn't worked though with the new Mint18 64bit cinnamon. Thanks observativetiger! In the past I've always installed the lpr, cupswrapper and brscan3 drivers separately using Brother's suggested methods and have had no problems. Thank you to everyone on this thread, all very important input! See the link above for details on your brscan version list of files to be copied.Copy the following files under /usr/lib64/ to /usr/lib/.This is usually why the scanner wont connect and is stated by PeterBell (Arch config identified) and.The following ports are required to be open:.(As stated by Duveltje) If you use a firewall:. ![]()
